This Wildlife Refuge is located on the Caribbean Coast near the Panamanian border, and is home to a large variety of flora and fauna. The Refuge's natural conditions make it an interesting destination for both scientists and nature lovers.
The forest is very diverse and colorful, playing host to many species of birds, mammals and other species of tropical animals. You will enjoy a guided hiking tour in the reserve for approximately 2 hours. Your bilingual naturalist guide will point out species such as: Toucans, trogons, jacamar, two-and three-toed sloths and monkeys, river turtles, green iguanas, crocodiles and snakes. Gandoca is also one of the most important places in the world for the Leather Back Turtle nesting.
Additionally, you will experience how the Afro-Caribbean and indigenous cultures live in harmony with nature.
